Joshua and Courtney's Woodsy Maryland Wedding

first dance in a field

My mind still races through all the perfect details of Joshua and Courtney's wedding day. How they snuck away and said their vows to each other privately. I cried. How she had his last name sown at the hem of her dress. How he couldn’t stop saying ‘I love you’, how she couldn’t stop calling him ‘husband’, how he couldn’t stop looking at her.

It rained hard that day. But, they were so oblivious to the downpour, they just wanted time alone with each other, even if it meant being in a wet soaked field. The rain let up just a little while, enough for us to sneak behind the church and take some photos in this beautiful field. Months before the wedding, Joshua and Courtney had discussed with me how they wanted to do their first dance in private. Remembering their request and seeing how they were so perfectly alone and focused on each other, I pulled out my phone and played ‘Take My Hand Take My Heart,’ they danced. It was a perfect end to a beautiful day.

Special thanks to my second shooter, Savannah Brown.
